HARRY WAGNER
I
was born and raised in Northern California, spending much of my childhood camping
and four-wheeling with my family in the Sierra Nevada mountain range and along
the Pacific Coast. My love for the outdoors led me to spend my summers backpacking
and exploring the wilderness with family and Boy Scouts, eventually resulting
in the rank of Eagle Scout. At the age of 16, I shifted from the backseat of the
family Toyota Land Cruiser to the driver's seat of my own Jeep CJ-7. It was this
vehicle that I piloted through my college years in Colorado, where I earned a
degree in geophysics and experienced all the Rocky Mountains had to offer. Shortly
after graduating from college I moved to Caracas, Venezuela, where my passion
for travel and adventure further developed. My skills as a photographer and travel
writer matured here as well. From the beaches of Venezuela to the granite bowls
of the Rubicon, it was only natural that I combine the complimentary interests
of four-wheeling, photography, and writing once returning from South America.
Experienced freelance writers such as Jay Kopycinski, Ned Bacon, Chris Collard,
and Mark Werkmeister have been instrumental in providing thoughtful advice and
support. Since
coming back to the States, I have lived in California, Alaska, Nevada, South Dakota,
New Jersey, and Hawaii. When not out on assignment I currently reside in Albuquerque,
New Mexico, which provides me with easy access to vast mountains and deserts.
I can often be found on the trails north of Albuquerque in Durango and Farmington,
and south of Albuquerque in Socorro and Las Cruces. |
